Sketched and ChOW

Here are a couple sketches I've just "finished" if sketches are really ever finished... And another character I designed for the weekly ChOW competition.
This is the ChOW entry I did. She is the Spirit of Life. The design brief was to create a character that was to be the opposite of the character Death (black robe, scyth etc..) this is what I came up with. She's incandescent and slightly transparent revealing (if you look close enough) her veins and beating heart and she wears a crown of robins which are a symbol of spiritual rebirth.
A quick and strange vehicle concept. tripod style. you'd get in by hopping in a seat at the back and those two big bars would swing you over and into the main "pilot hole" :)

...Fishy. :D

First post, welcome to my new art blog I intend to fill this blog with my rough sketches, finished stuff and random thoughts about art. Here's a couple recent things to get this started!

Scientist character, I did this for the weekly ChOW (Character of the Week) competition over at This was a quick one, did the entire thing on a sunday in about 3 or 4 hours.

I had this image in my head for a while, it's a bit different to how I imagined it but I got the general gist of it.
Aaand this one I made for the banner of this blog. Spent a couple hours on it. I tried to capture everything I love about art: minimalism, atmosphere and a sense of narrative.
